Another year, another opportunity to harness the motivation that has most likely been delayed until “next year”. Well, next year is here so no more excuses 😉. This year, we want to encourage you to live smarter, without depriving yourself of all things fun. Here are our top tips to get you living your best life while still saving some coin in 2022!
Transparency is key
Don’t be afraid of letting your friends and family know that while you’re down for good times, it’s all in moderation. Once your inner circle can see where your priorities are, it’ll be easier for them to understand the occasions where you may need to say “no”. Plus, who isn’t trying to save money where they can? Once you start the conversation, chances are they’re on the same page as you.
Plan your outings
We know this sounds like a bit of a buzzkill, but we promise it’s for your own good. While spontaneous nights out tend to be some of the best, they also have a habit of blowing out your spending account thanks to the classic YOLO mentality. Try and plan your outings and catch ups in advance so you can factor this into your weekly budget. Whether it’s a boozy lunch or a date night, saving money doesn’t always mean you have to miss out.
Bargain hunt
Who doesn’t love a good happy hour? What about a mid-week special? A quick search on Google and we guarantee you’ll find some sweet eats (or drinks!) in your area for a fraction of the price. You might even discover a groovy new spot you wouldn’t normally go to! Don’t forget to follow your local restaurants on social media, they often post spontaneous specials to their stories or feed that you don’t want to miss.
Compromising is cool
Like any successful relationship, compromise is key…even the relationship between your social life and your bank account. Rather than buying dinner and drinks while out with friends, have some dinner at home before you go and maybe only have one drink to satisfy yourself. This way, you’re spending minimal money (if any) but not stuck at home riddled with FOMO. Not to mention, when you don’t splash your cash on drinks you can opt to drive instead of paying for transport, therefore saving money on travel too 😎, it’s a win-win!
We know it can be tough to stick to a tight budget, and life doesn’t exactly slow down when you’d like it to. That’s why it’s always good to keep MyPayNow in your back pocket for when your social life is getting a little hectic and you need a payday advance!
