Putting money aside to save isn’t the most fun thing to do, but it sure does pay off in the end. FOMO is the real deal, so we understand the temptation of falling off the bandwagon every so often. If you’re impatient or struggle to see the light at the end of the tunnel, we have some hacks that will help put your mind at ease.
Second-hand success
As the saying goes, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure! Thanks to social media (and the internet in general), pre-loved goods are easy to come by. When you’ve got the itch to redecorate or rebrand your personal style, instead of buying brand new for triple the price, jump onto Facebook Marketplace, Depop or Gumtree and you might just come across a sweet deal. Even better, find a piece of furniture that needs some fixing and you’ve got yourself a fun DIY project to make the new item fit your home style to a tee.
Out of sight out of mind
In some cases, what you don’t see, won’t hurt you. Being able to easily view and access your savings could be the temptation that you need to say a firm “goodbye” to. Do some research into a savings account that allows you to lock and hide away your funds, so you aren’t tempted to dip into it when you’re feeling…rebellious. Take it one step further and set up a direct deposit each week into your savings account, so you don’t even need to think about it at all!
Every penny counts
Small dollars and cents may seem irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, however after 1, 2, 3 or more years, it can be the difference between $100 and $1000. There are financial apps out there such as Raiz Invest, that give you the opportunity to round up each transaction to the nearest dollar to bolster your savings over time. Some apps will even micro invest on your behalf using the spare change you’ve already forgotten about. This is a great savings tool to use in addition to your regular savings routine.
Just MyPayNow it
Credit cards and loans could be costing you more than you can afford over time, so when you just need to get over the line until your next payday, why not just get a pay advance from MyPayNow? When your social calendar catches you off guard and your faced with throwing your accounts out of whack, simply get your pay on demand and keep everything afloat!
